Pizza stones, stone bar pans and baking round stones -- almost every Pampered Chef product with "stone" in the name -- requires seasoning to build up the layer of polymerized fat that prevents sticking. Stoneware self-seasons after repeated use, but you always have a few casualties -- a pizza that won't slide off or a few muffins that won't dislodge from their cups -- in the beginning if you don't prep the surface. Seasoning ensures your first baking experience in Pampered Chef stoneware isn't a sticky one.
Step 1
Heat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Wash the stoneware with hot water and a scrub brush or sponge. The manufacturer does not recommend using soap -- just a good scrub with hot water.

Step 2
Dry the stoneware with a towel and coat it with a thin layer of vegetable oil. Set the stoneware in the oven.
Step 3
Bake the stoneware for 30 minutes then turn the oven off. Let the stoneware come to room temperature in the oven, about 2 hours. You can use the stoneware as needed; the stoneware will keep itself seasoned with repeated use.
