What Is Put in Yogurt to Give it Flavor?
Yogurt makes a great snack, dessert or addition to a healthy breakfast. It comes in a number of fruity flavors such as strawberry, banana, blueberry and peach, as well as dessert flavors such as key lime pie, chocolate, vanilla and peanut butter. Fruit-Flavored Yogurt

The most common flavor added to yogurt provides a taste of fruit. This flavor is often added using fresh fruit, but it may also be achieved via pureed fruits, preserves, juices, extracts and dried fruits. Some common fruit flavors used in yogurt includes strawberry, peach, lemon, banana, blueberry and cherry. More recently however, exotic fruits such as mango, kiwi and pomegranate have also been used to flavor yogurt.
Baking Flavors

To create more dessert type flavors, popular baking ingredients such as candy, spices, syrups, sauces and extracts may also be used to flavor yogurt. Depending on the desired flavor, an array of spices such as ginger, cinnamon, saffron, nutmeg and pumpkin may be used to create the taste. Other baking items used in yogurt include vanilla beans, caramel, Dulce de Leche sauce, chocolate, peppermint and citrus syrups.

Manufacturers and homemade yogurt makers may also use less-traditional ingredients to create more unique flavors. This includes foods such as nuts, jello, candy bars and peanut butter. Beverages such as matcha or green tea, coffee, coconut milk, fresh juices and lemonade have also been used to flavor yogurt.
Sweeteners

Sweeteners are added to yogurt for more flavor. Many yogurt recipes incorporate natural sweeteners such as pure cane sugar, honey, agave, nectar, brown sugar, maple and high-fructose corn syrup in the ingredients list. Low-calorie yogurts often use artificial sweeteners such as aspartame, sucralose and neotame in their recipes.
