The side-by-side GE Profile refrigerator has an electronic control panel that allows users to change the freezer or refrigerator temperature as well as operate the water and ice dispensers. The control panel also notifies users when the door has been open for too long or when specific functions, such as the quick cool or freeze option, have been selected . If the digital display is not working, users should consider several possible reasons for the situation.

Power

Video of the Day

The first thing to examine if the control panel and display on the Profile refrigerator is not working is whether anything on the refrigerator is operating. If the refrigerator has no power, find the power cord and plug it into a live outlet. Reset or replace the circuit breaker or fuse to reset power to the unit.

Temperature Control

If the digital display on the refrigerator shows "0," this does not mean that the display is not working. Instead, it indicates that the temperature control has been set to 0 degrees Fahrenheit. Select "Home" and then "Refrigerator" and press the arrows to set a temperature, followed by "Set" and then repeat with "Home" and "Freezer" to set the freezer temperature. If the Profile refrigerator is non-LCD, push "Freezer Temp" or "Refrigerator Temp' and the arrow pads to select a temperature.

Door Open

While it may seem self-explanatory, if the freezer door is open, the digital display will be blank. Close the freezer door before attempting to use or change any of the control pads on the digital display.

Reset or Repair

After performing basic checks on the refrigerator power and use, if the display still does not work, try a basic reset. Unplug the refrigerator and wait 30 seconds, then plug it back in to the circuit. This should reset the control panel and restore function. If it does not, contact GE at 800-432-2737.
