Friendship Knot Crafts
Friendship knots are crafts that represent the loyalty between trusted friends using loops that represent unity. Use different types of materials, such as rope or scarves, for different friendship knot crafts to exchange with your best friend or to start a new friendship. Crafts include a knot swap, a friendship bracelet, a friendship scarf and a pin.

Knot Swap
-
Scouts often work a simple friendship knot on camping trips and retreats. Made from thin rope, friendship knots are ideal for swapping with other scouts and friends. Fold the rope in half. Loop the right side with its end under the loop. Lay this loop over the left side of the rope. Pull the left side gently through the right loop. Take the left end and place it under the right end. Thread that left end over and under the middle loop while using the other end to go around and into the center loop. Pull on the two ends to form the friendship knot.
Friendship Bracelet
-
A simple friendship bracelet uses knots to form patterns. A candy stripe pattern is simple for beginners. Use thin embroidery floss for this craft. Cut three, 3-foot long pieces of floss in different colors. Tie a knot with all three pieces at one end. Take the left strand and knot the strand in the middle. Use the same strand to knot the right strand. By knotting each strand, the left strand is now the right strand. Pick up the new left strand to knot it with the new middle strand. Then, knot it with the right strand. Continue knotting each piece of floss until you have enough for a bracelet.

Friendship Scarf
-
Tie a friendship knot for your scarf. Fold your scarf into a triangle with the top point down to start. Roll the scarf down a few times to make the ends more rope-like. Cross the two ends about 4 inches from each end. Wrap the left end down and behind the right end. Then pull it under and over the right end. Push the right end through the loop that forms on the left side. Pull the tighten the friendship knot.
Pin
-
Pipe cleaners are knotted for a pin craft meant to be swapped. Form two small circles with two pipe cleaners, one gold and the other silver, about the same size as a ring. Cut off the excess pipe cleaner and interlock the two circles. Peel off the paper from a pin used for making buttons, exposing the adhesive. Press the rings onto the adhesive and add glue for additional support.
