Make time for your mom before your wedding day.

Before you say "I do," spend some time with the woman that raised you. After your wedding, you'll embark on your honeymoon and, more importantly, your marriage. It's a busy period in your life and time with your parents could decline. Take it easy and enjoy your time together before the big day.

  1. Rehearsal Dinner

    • If you've planned the rehearsal dinner for the night before your wedding, eating will be a long, large production with your family and closest friends that won't leave you a lot of time to spend with your mom. Pull her aside and ask if the two of you can spend some time together when the events is over. Go out for a drink, coffee or tea right after the dinner is over and relax together. Once it starts getting late, take her back to where she's staying and say goodnight.

    Night In

    • Pop some popcorn and slide a movie into the player. Pick something that works for both of you; in most cases, a family movie, comedy or love story is the best option for a night with your mom. Order pizza so you don't have to cook or clean and pull out the photo album to relive old memories. Take a photo of the two of you as a memento. Remind her how much you care about her before she leaves for the night.

    Night Out

    • Make reservations at a nice restaurant and treat mom to dinner. Think about what she'd like to eat and what you should eat before your wedding tomorrow; no one wants to walk down the aisle in a sugar coma. Purchase a small gift for your mother and give it to her during the meal: a bracelet, a necklace or a framed photo. After dinner, take a walk by a lake or through some small shops. Don't do anything too strenuous; your wedding is a busy, tiring day. End your night in plenty of time to get a full night of sleep.

    Other Options

    • To look your best, plan a mini spa evening with your mother. Even a man can benefit from a salt facial; scrub your hands, give yourself a manicure and shape your brows. Help your mom with her own beauty routine. If you'd rather spend time focused on the wedding, make a scrapbook together. Print out some photos in advance and paste them in. Caption them together. Write down anecdotes about wedding planning and the rehearsal dinner. Create something you can both look back on and enjoy in years to come.
