Three Different Recruitment Interview Techniques
Recruitment centers conduct interviews for potential job candidates before suggesting them as a potential fit for a business. Because the recruitment interviewers may not know the details of the company they're interviewing on behalf of, they use various techniques to get as much usable information as possible. A recruiter may use a single technique or combine a number of them during a single interview.

Structured Interviews

The structured interview technique is a set of predetermined questions the recruiter asks the job seeker. Common questions include identifying strengths and weaknesses, handling certain situations, figuring out a candidate's rationale for certain decisions throughout educational or job situations, and outlining reasons why the job in question is of interest. The questions may be provided by the company in question if there are specific requirements for getting the position. The answers are evaluated based on a rating system set out by the company or recruiter.
Oral Boards

The oral board technique is another interviewing method that recruiters use to scout out potential candidates for jobs. This technique places the job seeker in front of a panel of recruiters who ask questions in a rapid sequence. The questions focus on creative thinking, presentation, professionalism, past work experience, academic history and motivation. The technique reveals whether the candidate thinks on her toes or if her answers are prepared. Because this technique is time consuming and costly for recruiting centers, this method is often used for positions with few candidates.

Unstructured Interviews

An unstructured interview is a conversational technique often used by recruiters to make the interview more conversationlike. There are no structured interview questions, but the recruiter does have a list of items that must be covered, such as education and relevant skills, for example. The recruiter may think of questions based on the information provided by the job seeker. After the conversational interview is complete, the recruiter evaluates the information provided.
Recruitment Interview Considerations

It's not possible to predict what technique a recruiter will use during an interview, but job seekers must prepare and show professionalism despite the techniques or structures used. All job seekers must be prepared to discuss educational milestones, past work experience, certain situations with former employers and practical skills. In addition, the job seeker must be dressed professionally and maintain eye contact during the interview; confidence, honesty and enthusiasm aren't frowned upon, either. Job seekers must listen to the questions asked, provide concise and strong answers and only provide relevant information.
