Craigslist Seller Tools
Craigslist is a website consisting of local classifieds and forums. As of August 2011, Craigslist was ranked 10th in U.S. Web traffic, according to Alexia, a Web information company. This, along with the ability for sellers and buyers and post and respond to ads for free, makes Craigslist a prime spot to buy and sell items online. Although Craigslist's features are fairly basic, the website does provide several tools that sellers will find highly useful.
-
Craigslist Account
-
Craigslist doesn't require sellers to create a user account. If you choose not to, you can manage your post through your post's confirmation email. That being said, if you plan on placing multiple posts on Craigslist, a user account makes the process of creating, editing and deleting posts much easier. A user account also allows you to view all of your posts on one page and re-post ads that have expired.
For Sale Category
-
Craigslist has an extensive list of For Sale categories -- found on your local Craigslist's main page -- that sellers can post their items in. Some of the many categories include Arts and Crafts, Garage Sales, Antiques, Electronics and Cars and Trucks. The For Sale section also includes a Wanted category, where sellers can contact potential buyers looking for specific items, a Barter category where sellers can post items with negotiable price tags and a Free section where sellers can give away items that aren't selling.
-
Photo Uploader
-
Criagslist provides a photo uploader for all categories in the For Sale, Housing and Personals sections. As of August 2011, the photo uploader allows you to upload a maximum of four images saved on your computer. You'll have the opportunity to preview your post along with your photos before publishing it.
Anonymous Email Address
-
Craigslist provides anonymous email addresses to use when posting an ad. This is especially helpful if you plan on selling multiple items because it prevents your email account from becoming bombarded with spam. Any email sent to your anonymous Craigslist email address is automatically redirected to the email address connected to your user account, or the one you provided when you posted the ad.
