If a GE Profile refrigerator will not stop beeping, it's insisting for a little help to keep it in good working order. A sensor may be stuck, a drawer may be impeding the door from closing or there may be an issue with a water line or filter. Finding and fixing the issue is a relatively easy endeavor for anyone who can easily reach the recesses of the appliance.

What Causes an Ice Dispenser to Stop Working?

There are a few reasons why a GE Profile refrigerator will not stop beeping or the display has malfunctioned, and this may have something to do with the ice dispenser. Something as simple as a shock from static electricity can create a problem for the sensitive electrical components of the refrigerator, according to GE Appliances. Pulling the plastic covering away from the ice dispenser and giving it a mild shock from static electricity can make it lock up temporarily.

Make sure that the control panel's child lock-out feature isn't in place before doing anything invasive like removing panels and doors. A kink in the water lines can cause an ice maker to cease dispensing frozen cubes as well.

GE Refrigerator Door Alarm

A beeping sound coming from a GE Profile refrigerator can most likely be associated with the swinging doors not functioning properly. An open door will bring down the temperature of the appliance and cause it to begin beeping. The refrigerator should return to its food-friendly temperature within a few minutes, and the GE refrigerator door alarm should cease its relentless beeping.

The doors on the refrigerator get a daily workout and can be inadvertently left open. Check that all the drawers are snug in their recesses and that nothing is hanging over a shelf and causing the door to stay ajar. Resist overstuffing the refrigerator, which can make it more difficult for the appliance to arrive at the proper food-safe temperature.

If the refrigerator has been recently moved or if the doors were taken off the hinges before installation, the door's wiring harness should be checked. Make sure it's snugly plugged in and the connection from the door to the interior is secure. If the refrigerator continues to beep, check the circuit board for any signs of a malfunction.

Temperature Control Board

If the beeping is caused by the refrigerator not cooling to the proper temperature, it could be a problem with the temperature control thermostat, according to Repair Clinic. The thermostat directs the correct voltage to the compressor and evaporator fan motor, and if it's malfunctioning, it stops the refrigerant system from working.

Move the thermostat from its lowest setting to the highest while listening for a click. If you do hear a click, the thermostat is more than likely in good working order. Use a multimeter to test the continuity of the thermostat if you don't hear a click.

Resetting the GE Refrigerator

The GE Profile refrigerator's control panel can be reset by turning the power off to the appliance. Reach behind the refrigerator and unplug it. Count to 30 before plugging the appliance back into the outlet.
