If you have curly hair, you will want to straighten it first to achieve the greaser hairstyle with cat ears.

Creating your own hairstyle can be a great way to spruce up a Halloween costume or even a fun way to dress up on a night out on the town. A greaser hairstyle is great way to achieve the 1950's look, and it can easily be sculpted with a lot of hair wax and a comb. Once you have your greaser hairstyle, you can add in cat ears to create a look all your own. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Materials for Hairstyling

    • To begin styling your hair, start by gathering the materials you will need for the look. You may find that you have most of the materials in your bathroom cabinet. If not, you can purchase these items at a hair salon, drugstore or grocery store. You will need hair wax or a pomade and a comb. If you have long hair, make sure you have plenty of bobby pins or hair clips and two ponytail holders. You will also need a hair dryer and a hair straightener.

    Preparing Your Hair

    • Once you have gathered your hairstyling materials, you will want to make sure your hair is prepared for the styling. Make sure your hair is completely dry, and use a hair straightener to take out any curl your hair may naturally have. If you are really wanting to make this look authentic, you will want to have your hair cut short on the back and sides, and keep it longer around the top and front.

    Creating the Greaser Hairstyle

    • You will want to cover every bit of your hair with a hair pomade or hair wax. This product usually comes in a tin or tub, and it is applied with your hands. Scoop a bit out, rub it between your hands so that it warms and softens, and run it through your hair. Once you have a good coat, use a comb to make sure it is evenly spread throughout your head of hair. Part the hair on the top to separate the long hair that is on the top and center of your head. If your hair has enough wax, you will be able to create a poof easily at the front of your hair. Shape it with your hands, and comb down the sides and back of your hair so that they lay flat to your head.

    Making Cat Ears

    • Now that you have created the greaser hairstyle, you will want to add the cat ears. If you have short hair, you can easily achieve this by teasing sections of your hair. You will want to tease the hair with the comb in the locations on top of the head where you want the cat ears. Once again, your hair needs to be straight and full of hair wax to achieve this look. As you are teasing with the comb, use your hands to create a triangle-shape for the ears. If your hair is long, you will want to grab a section of hair where you want the ear. Hold it out to the side, and put a ponytail holder around it about 4 inches from the scalp. Push the ponytail holder up against the scalp, and it will naturally form a triangle shape. Use the bobby pins or hair clips so that it can stay in this shape. Repeat this for the other side.
