Camouflage comes in an array of color shades and patterns.

The classic camouflage pattern is used in the military, by hunters, and in fashion. Camouflage can also be used to decorate a toddler's room. A room in camouflage decor should be enhanced by a matching quilt. Consider the size of the bed when creating a toddler-size quilt. Many toddlers' beds are the size of a crib mattress, so make a handmade camouflage quilt accordingly.

  1. Piece Quilt

    • Create a piece quilt out of new and re-purposed camouflage fabric swatches. Gather camouflage fabric scraps from old clothing or a fabric store. Find a quilt pattern that you want to follow and cut the fabric accordingly. Follow the directions on the pattern to create a piece quilt with the camouflage fabric. Or cut the fabric into squares and lay them in rows on a table with the print side down. Sew the pieces together to create one piece. Put a layer of cotton batting on top of the fabric and sew a neutral colored background to the piece quilt.

    Painted Quilt

    • Use fabric paint to create a painted camouflage quilt. Use a white or light colored fabric for the top of the quilt. Use fabric paint to create a camouflage pattern on the fabric. Use green and earth tones for a traditional camouflage pattern or use shades of pink or blue to match a toddler's room decor. Once the fabric has been painted and is dry, use it to create a quilt for a toddler's bed.

    Themed Quilt

    • Make a themed quilt out of camouflage fabric. Choose a theme that is age-appropriate for a toddler and that is in keeping with a camouflage theme. For instance, create an animal-themed quilt by cutting simple animal shapes out of camouflage material. Then sew the animals onto another piece of fabric to be used in creating a quilt.

    Other Handmade Camouflage Quilt Ideas

    • Consider other ways to create a camouflage quilt for a toddler. Take a picture of your favorite toddler wearing camouflage clothing. Then print the picture on iron-on transfer paper. Transfer the image onto white fabric. Cut the fabric around the photo and sew it on to a camouflaged-patterned quilt. Another idea is to cut green Army-men figures out of felt and sew them onto a camouflage patterned quilt.
