WordPress Dashboard Options in WP-Admin

WordPress is a blogging platform available free from WordPress.org. You can download and install the WordPress framework on your self-hosted website and access the WordPress dashboard, which allows you to control and edit your blog options. You can access the WordPress dashboard at http://URL.com/wp-admin where "URL.com" is the domain where you installed WordPress.

  1. Right Now Option

    • The Right Now option on the WordPress dashboard allows you to view things currently going on with your website at a glimpse. From the Right Now option, you can view the theme you currently have installed, how many widgets you have active, what version of WordPress you currently have installed and get a quick rundown of your content and recent comments waiting for your approval.

    QuickPress Option

    • QuickPress is a WordPress dashboard option that allows you to quickly publish a post on the main page of your blog. You can do so by adding a title, creating the post in the Content section and adding tags directly on the dashboard. You can then choose to save the post as a draft, where you can edit and publish it later, or publish the post immediately without ever accessing the Post or Pages section of your site. Additionally, you can upload and insert image, video or audio files into the post using the Upload/Insert buttons on QuickPress.

    Recent Comments Option

    • The Recent Comments option shows you a list of the five most recent comments on your website and specifies if you've approved the comments or if they are pending. Approved comments appear as green while pending comments appear yellow. By using the Recent Comments option on the WordPress dashboard, you can approve or unapprove, reply to, edit, delete or mark comments as spam directly on the dashboard of your WordPress site.

    Incoming Links Option

    • The Incoming Links option shows the 10 most recent incoming links that WordPress found for your website via Google Blog Search. Incoming Links shows where the link came from and a small preview of the content surrounding the inbound link. Although the Incoming Links option can help give you an idea of the amount of incoming links to your website, it is not a comprehensive list and does not reflect the true amount of inbound links that exist for the website.
