OTC Bearings Tools
Over-the-counter (OTC) tools are available at most parts supply retail stores and even some department stores, such as Sears. The different OTC bearing tools are used to install and remove bearings. The purpose of these OTC bearing tools are to ensure that the bearings are not damaged when installing or removing them.
-
Bearing Splitter
-
A OTC bearing splitter allows you to pull bearings that are difficult to grab. The tool has edges that slide under the bottom of a bearing. As the two sides or splitters are tightened down, the OTC bearing splitter slips under the edges of the bearing. Once the splitter edges make contact, you can attach a push-puller tool to the two tapped holes on either side of the splitter jaws.
OTC Bearing Race and Seal Driver Set
-
The OTC bearing race and seal driver sets are bearing tools used to install bearings. Bearings must be seated properly or they will not work proper and wear prematurely. The bearing race tools allow you to drive a bearing into place by applying pressure all the way around the diameter of the bearing. Applying pressure to all sides of the diameter, presses the bearing into place, preventing the bearing from going in at an angle.

Blind Hole Bearing Puller
-
The OTC blind hole bearing puller allows you to pull or remove the bearing from the interior diameter (ID) of the bearing. The bearing puller inserts into the ID of the bearing. You expand the collet of the tool until it tightens onto the ID of the bearing. Once the collet of the bearing puller secures onto the ID, you attache the slide hammer. Pulling up and then pushing back down repeatedly on the slide hammer pulls the bearing.
OTC Differential Bearing Puller
-
The OTC differential bearing puller removes the bearings by attaching legs to the outside diameter (OD) of the bearing. The differential bearing puller has two or three legs with lips on the ends that grab the OD of the bearing. A center bolt tightens down onto the bearing shaft and slowly pulls the bearing off the shaft.
