There are many Bible verses about the heart. Crafts inspired by these heart-related Bible verses can be a great way for children to learn about the role that love plays in Christianity. While heart crafts are particularly good activities for Valentine's Day, they are appropriate at any time of the year.
Bible Quotes for Heart Crafts
If you would like to print a Bible verse on your heart craft or are planning to link the activity to a specific Bible verse for a Sunday school lesson, there are several Bible verses that mention the heart. Here are a few examples from the New International Version:
" 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' " (Luke 10:27).
"Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life" (Proverbs 4:23).
"My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make music" (Psalm 57:7).
Bible Heart Crafts for Young Children
The simplest heart crafts are paper crafts. Cut out paper hearts from construction paper and print Bible verses on them. Then let children decorate the hearts with crayons or washable paint. The paper hearts can then be used as the base for a variety of craft activities, from paper heart necklaces to paper animals with heart-shaped bodies or faces.
Bible Heart Crafts for Older Children
Older children with developed fine motor skills can do heart crafts that involve cutting or sewing. They also enjoy creative tasks without a set template. For example, children can make a heart pouch by "sewing" together two construction paper hearts with ribbon. Print a Bible verse on the heart pouch, which can then be used to store slips of paper printed with additional verses. Children can also make heart pendants or sponge paint hearts on T-shirts. These items can then be worn to remind them of God's love.
