Easter is the most important Christian holiday. The holiday, which marks Jesus Christ's death, celebrates his last days, his death on the cross and his resurrection from the dead. Easter has many topics suitable for study and crafts. Does this Spark an idea?
-
The Last Supper
-
The last supper, or Holy Thursday, marks Christ's last meal with his disciples. To illustrate this event, use two clean, empty egg cartons, print outs of the disciples, scissors, crayons and glue to recreate the scene from Leonardo da Vinci's famous painting.
The Crucifixion
-
The cross is one of the most recognized religious symbols of Christianity. It plays a major role in the celebration of Easter. Explain the significance of the cross and Jesus' crucifixion while children cut out and assemble three-dimensional paper crosses from a template. When completed, these crosses stand up on their own (see Resources).
-
The Resurrection
-
The disciples' discovery of Christ's empty tomb, signifying that Christ had risen from the grave, is the basis of Christianity and the foundation of Easter. To illustrate the event, create an ancient tomb out of painted paper plates that are cut in half and stapled together. Create a smaller opening to serve as the entry to the tomb, with a cut out of an angel glued inside. Crumple a lunch bag to serve as the bolder that stood beside the tomb.
