Recycled CD Crafts
Save your old, scratched CDs from a trip to the trash bin by transforming them into something creative or decorative. With some household supplies, you can make use of your trash while saving the environment. Get your children involved in the crafting, but use caution when cutting CDs into pieces as the edges may become sharp or splinter.

Turtle Magnet
-
Paint an old CD with green acrylic paint and allow to dry. Cut green craft foam into a turtle head, four legs and a tail. Glue the parts underneath the CD with craft glue or a hot glue gun and adhere googly eyes to the head. Glue light green felt pentagons onto the CD in a circular pattern and one octagon in the center to adorn the turtle shell. Decorate with green glitter squeeze paint around the shell shapes. Adhere a magnet on the reverse side of the CD to complete a recycled turtle magnet.
Recycled CD Disco Ball
-
Reshape a common paper clip into a "U," and dip the ends into glue. Press the ends into an 8-inch Styrofoam ball. Cut up to 10 old CDs into 1- to 2-inch pieces with sharp scissors and glue to the foam with durable craft glue, shiny-side out. Allow to dry completely and hang from the paper clip loop.

CD Spaceship Mobile
-
Glue two arched fountain drink lids to an old CD, one to the top and one on the bottom with a low-temp hot glue gun. Tie a piece of clear fishing wire to the top lid of the ship and hang from an old quilting loop, dowel rod or plastic clothes hanger by hot gluing or tying the other end of the string to the recycled mobile frame. Hang spaceships at varying lengths. Use another piece of string to hang the mobile.
