Craft Supplies for Less
Craft supplies can be expensive. Specialty paints or specific yarn colors will lighten your wallet if you buy your supplies from a regular retail store or specialty art shop. However, there are alternatives to buying your craft supplies from expensive stores. From secondhand stores to online stores, you can find crafting supplies at prices that will not break the bank.

Thrift Stores
-
Thrift stores are often full of crafting supplies. Yarn, string and sewing supplies are often put together and sold as a package. Thrift stores will price these packages low. Thrift stores will occasionally sell donated paint supplies such as easels or paint brushes as well as canvases. For mosaic art, buying plates from thrift stores and breaking them yourself is cheaper than buying already broken mosaic pieces. Thrift stores will often carry various bolts of fabric at a drastically cheaper price than a regular store, too.
Online Retailers
-
Online discount craft supply stores offer cheaper prices on their inventory than regular retail stores. They will run specials or send out coupon codes to customers that can be used on their website. Many online retailers offer bulk discounts on supplies to customers as well. End of season sales will drive the price of certain supplies down even further.

Dollar or Dime Stores
-
If you are creating a children's project or need throw away craft supplies, dollar and dime stores offer a variety of supplies such as sewing kits and water-based paints. Dollar and dime stores also offer a variety of children's crafting supplies such as construction paper, scissors and crayons.
