Italian Wine Crafts
It is easy to get your hands on empty wine bottles that come in beautiful green, blue and burgundy colors. Instead of recycling the bottles, you can make several crafts at home. These crafts are suitable for adults and children. Remove the labels from the bottles and keep the corks.

Decorated Bottle
-
Pick your favorite tissue paper or pictures and use decoupage to cover the entire bottle. To decoupage, first glue the paper or pictures onto the bottle ensuring the entire bottle is covered with overlapping pieces, then cover the entire bottle with a few coats of decoupage glue to protect it. Add a pretty ribbon or natural fiber around the top and plug the bottle with a cork. You can store bath soap, oil, vinegar or another liquid inside the bottle.
Painted Vase
-
Create a unique vase with a good-quality acrylic paint. You can fill the vase with silk flowers, but if you decide to fill it with real flowers which will require water, ensure your paint is waterproof. Complete your project with a pretty ribbon or natural fiber tied at the mouth of the bottle.

Candle Holder
-
Transform your wine bottle into an old-fashioned candle holder. Paint the bottle with acrylic paints or decoupage with tissue paper. Keep in mind the candle wax will drip down over the bottle and will cover up some of your artwork. Use a taper candle with a fluted base and insert the candle into the mouth of the bottle. You may need to slightly carve the base of the candle with a knife to ensure a good fit.
Cork Trivet
-
The most collected part of wine bottles isn't the bottle, it is the cork. Gather a few of your favorite corks and make a trivet. First, find or cut a piece of wood to the size trivet you would like (measure your wood in corks so you don't have to cut any corks). Using wood glue, cover the wood with felt just like you are wrapping a present. Glue on the corks (brand side up if you wish) and set a heavy book on the corks overnight while the glue bonds.
