Airbrush Tanning
-
Airbrush tanning is a method of achieving a faux tan by airbrushing a mixture of Dihyroxyacetone (DHA) and bronzer on the skin. Over a period of a few hours, the sprayed-on product reacts with the air to turn the skin tan.
Airbrush Kit Components
-
Typical home-use airbrush tanning kits contain a compressor, an air hose, an airbrush gun and a bottle of the tanning solution. The compressor generates the pressurized air that sprays the tanning solution out of the airbrush gun. Some airbrush models are intended to spray larger parts of the body, such as the legs and back, while others are made for the face and hands. Some airbrush systems polarize the tanning solution, which is said to make the solution particles adhere to the skin more evenly.

Cost-Effectiveness
-
An airbrush tanning kit is an investment. However, after the mechanical components are purchased, the cost of the tanning solution is estimated to be around $3 per application. Salon misting booths can cost $35 to $85 per tanning session. Although tanning creams are relatively inexpensive, it can take many purchases of different brands before you find the brand with the right color for your skin tone.
