Wooden inlay uses different wood types like the pieces of a puzzle to create elaborate designs.

Desert Mountain Crafts is the founding name of a family owned company now called Rainbo Wood Works. The company specializes in wooden inlay inspired by their former location in the southwestern United States.

  1. History

    • Rainbo Wood Works began as Desert Mountain Crafts in 1982. The company is owned and operated by Steve and Helen Rosenblum, who also do much of the inlay work. The company's name change came after a move from the southwest to the state of Vermont.

    Products

    • The company sells handcrafted wooden inlay specialty items. They tout a large selection of knives, from pocket to buck knives, with colorful inlay handles in myriad designs. Decorative barrettes, money clips and lighters are also offered. All products sport signature strips of multicolored wood.

    Ordering

    • Rainbo Wood Works takes order online via its website, rainbowwoodworks.com. Send an email directly to the owners who will confirm your order by phone. Prices for products vary depending on the complexity and size of the design. As of 2011, most prices fall under $200.
