Story-Based Crafts
-
One way to reinforce the message of a story is with a follow-up craft. Choose a story that focuses on the birth of Jesus. Following the reading of the story, children can make Christmas cards filled with scenes of what the holiday means to them.
Advent Calendars
-
The anticipation of Christmas morning is one of the most exciting parts of childhood. Advent calendars enhance this excitement. For preschool children, glue fabric or paper pockets to a piece of cardboard and let children decorate the calendar and fill the pockets with candy. Children can enjoy the Christmas countdown with a treat.

Nativity Crafts
-
The nativity is one of the most traditional Christmas images in existence. Speak with children about the animals and people who were present at the birth of Jesus, then allow them to create their own nativity scene. Children can use crayons or markers for a drawn nativity or sculpt a nativity from clay.
Ornaments and Decorations
-
Children love seeing their handiwork displayed on the Christmas tree. Ornaments can be made with a variety of craft materials; supply glitter, glue, crayons and other materials and let kids have fun. Ornaments can then be attached to short pieces of string for hanging.
