What Are the Chords for the Ukulele?
Chords make up the majority of ukulele playing, so learning about the different ukulele chords can help you learn to play any song. Ukuleles can be thought of as a miniature guitar with four strings. Soprano ukuleles, the most commonly used type, have their strings tuned to G, C, E and A, from top to bottom.

Major Chords

Major chords produce a happy sound and are used in many songs. Press down the third fret on the A string and strum all of the strings to play a C chord. Flatten your index finger down so the second fret is pressed down on the G, C and E strings, and reach your little finger out for the fifth fret on the A string to play a D chord.. An F major chord is made by pressing down the second fret on the G string and the first fret on the E string. Press down the second fret on the C and A strings and the third fret on the E string to play a G chord. You can play in the keys of C and G using these four chords.
Minor Chords

Minor chords produce a sad sound and are similar to the major chords of the same note. Press the G string down at the second fret to play an A minor chord. Make a D minor chord by pressing down the second fret on the G and C strings, and the first fret on the E string. Play an E minor chord by pressing the second fret on the A string, the third fret on the E string and the fourth fret on the C string.
