No matter what you wish to work with, there are some basic tools that you will use almost every time. Tools to work with wire are round-nose pliers, flush cutter, bent nose pliers and chain nose pliers. The tools to work with beads are slightly different. Tools to work with beads are scissors, beading needles and bead boards. Both stringing and wire work need a ruler and a pair of crimping pliers.

Some ideas for jewelry supplies are beads, wire, string, findings and design. Use the string for stringing beads, or use a needle to make designs with beads. Wire work, which is bending and twisting wire into shapes or designs, uses wire and the different types of pliers. However, wire can also be used with beads. Findings are the ends that hold the finished work in place. Some examples of findings are clasps and eye pins. A pattern will provide advice and direction while creating the piece. Free patterns are available or create your own by laying the beads onto a bead board.
