i just tried a simple method which worked a treat! my laundry tub was caked in this rust which would not budge when using bleach and a scrubbing brush, so i poured some white vinegar onto the rust and scrunched up a piece of aluminum foil and scrubbed away, the rust literally dissolved before my eyes! AMAZING!

All the different tips are a great help. I clean houses for a living and I have a house whose sink is stained. I haven't had any luck with comet or bleach. Hopefully these tips will work. Thanks for the tip. I rated you 5.

I use Bon Ami to clean my kitchen sink. I also use it to remove stains from my Corelle dishes. It is a very fine powder and doesn't scratch surfaces. Also it doesn't contain bleaching agents like Ajax or Comet so it is safer to use. Bon Ami is safe enough to use on sinks, tubs, cookware, tile and other hard surfaces. It is even specifically recommended by companies such as Pyrex Ware, Corning Ware, West Bend, Rival and others. This product is GREAT. It removes rust very quickly and easily. You just wet the surface and sprinkle on a little Bon Ami and then rub with wet cloth or sponge, and immediately the stain starts to disappear! And just as great is the price. It costs me under a buck and can be found in most grocery stores in the cleaning products. Look for a gold label with red and little yellow chick.

"The Works" was rated best for rust removal in tubs, basins and on tile by Consumer Reports. Walmart carries it. The hardest thing to do is spray and walk away. No scrubbing necessary. Use spray bottle, not squirt bottle, for even removal.

We have rusty well water and I've had luck with a few different products that may be more toxic, but will work: 1. Iron Out (powder) 2. Whink 3. Zud (powder and liquid - I like the liquid better). Follow directions on the labels.
