Lego kits are designed for boys and girls from age 2 and up. Kits are age-rated on the box. The name Lego comes from the Danish words "leg godt," which mean play well. Incidentally, in Latin, the word lego means "I study" or "I put together."

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Classic Lego Playtables
  • Lego Air Zeppelins
  • Lego Classic Boxes
  • Lego Classic Buckets
  • Lego Robotics Invention Systems
  • Lego System Star Wars Tie Fighters
  • Legos
  1. Step 1

Choose Legos as a gift for any kid. So many different kits are available, you're bound to find a set appropriate for any interest. Even an adult will get a kick out of the Lego Air Zeppelin or a Lego System Star Wars Tie Fighter.

  2. Step 2

Check out the Classic Lego Playtable, which costs about $20. Meant for ages 5 to 12, this isn't a kit as much as a set of assorted pieces ' including 400 bricks, two Lego people, and a storage box/building desk. The Lego Classic Box ($6) contains 120 pieces including wheels, propellers, and a Lego person; the Classic Bucket ($10) contains 400 bricks, two Lego people, house pieces, and wheels.

  3. Step 3

Expect to pay anywhere from $2 for a small kit (about 10 pieces) to more than $200 for something as complex as the Lego Robotics Invention System (717 pieces including a programmable microcomputer).

  4. Step 4

Look for Legos at toy stores and discount stores such as Wal-Mart and Target.

  5. Step 5

Shop online for Legos at eToys, Wal-Mart Online, and Amazon.

  6. Step 6

Order your Legos early and allow as much as three weeks for delivery.
