How to Make Clay Pot Turkeys

Make a flock of little turkeys to tuck all over your house. These also make cute placecard holders or table favors for your guests. Each turkey costs about $1.00. Read "How to Wax Leaves for Arrangements" or "How to Preserve Fall Leaves for a Wreath" for your turkeys' tail feathers.

Things You'll Need:

• Hobby Paintbrushes
• Acrylic Paints
• Craft Foams
• Fresh Or Silk Fallen Leaves (small)
• Glue Guns
• Hot Glue Sticks
• Planting Containers
• Wooden Ball Knobs
• Acrylic Paints
• Scissors
• Scissors
• Black Permanent Markers

1. Gather supplies. For each turkey, you will need 1 small (1 3/4") clay pot, 1 wooden ball (1 1/4" dia.), small silk autumn leaves or fresh leaves, yellow and red craft foam, black paint or marker, craft paint for the color of your turkey body, paintbrush and small wiggly eyes.

2. Paint wooden ball and clay pot black or the color you desire.

3. Hot-glue ball to top of pot. This will be the head and body of turkey.

4. Cut a triangle from yellow craft foam for beak.

5. Cut an oval circle from red craft foam for wattle.

6. Glue wiggly eyes to head.

7. Glue on wattle 1/4 inch below the eyes and in center of face.

8. Glue beak just above the wattle.

9. Glue leaves on back of pot for tail feathers and on sides for wings.

Tips & Warnings

• This is a good craft for kids. They can use glue in place of the hot glue.
• Draw or paint on eyes in place of wiggly eyes for a large group project.
• Watch yard sales for small pots for only pennies.
