If you maintain an e-mail newsletter, you'll need to add new subscribers and remove subscribers who request it.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • E-mail Accounts
  • E-mail Software
  1. Step 1

Add requests to subscribe to your mailing list. If you use the BCC or Group feature of a regular e-mail software program, copy the e-mail address you want to add into the clipboard. Next, locate the mailing list and paste the e-mail address into the mailing list.

  2. Step 2

Remove the address of someone who has requested to be removed by locating the e-mail address in the maling list and deleting it.

  3. Step 3

If you use a special software program designed for mailing lists, your mailing list is likely to be saved in ASCII text. In that case, locate the text file and add or remove addresses as needed.

  4. Step 4

Purchase sophisticated bulk-mail software that adds or removes subscriber requests automatically. These programs work best if you have a continuous Internet connection, such as DSL or cable.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you can't locate the e-mail address that you've been requested to remove, the recipient might have more than one e-mail address and has forgotten which one was used to subscribe to your newsletter. Contact him or her and ask for the other e-mail address.
  • Alternatively, ask the subscriber to forward the newsletter to you (not reply and not redirect). In this case, you will be able to see the e-mail address that you used and remove it.
  • Avoid adding people to your mailing list without their permission. This is called "spamming" and may result in complaints both to you and to your ISP.
