Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
Step1
Consider the fabric of your dress. Match silk and satin gowns to satin shoes, and match tulle and silk chiffon gowns to crepe or raw-silk shoes.
Step2
Select embellishments that match your dress and headpiece. Pair jewels with rhinestones and beads with pearls.
Step3
Evaluate the color of your dress in a light similar to that of the ceremony and reception. If possible, take your dress into the indoor/outdoor, day/evening lighting that you anticipate at your wedding.
Step4
Think about a style of shoe that complements the dress and your own personal style. Sandals, slippers, pumps or strappy heels are all viable options.
Step5
Consider heel heights: slippers, flat heel, midheel or high heel. Decide whether you need to maximize or minimize your height to complement that of your fiancé.
Step6
Try shoes on with your actual dress if possible. Evaluate how the dress hangs in proportion to the shoes, if you can see the shoes at all.
Step7
Buy comfortable shoes. You'll be standing and dancing in them for a long time.

on 11/22/2005 I'll be wearing shoes that will make me taller for the pictures and the ceremony so that I don't look funny next to the groom. For the reception, the groom and I will have matching all white Adidas tennis shoes to dance the night away. Since the tennis shoes will remain undecorated, we can both wear them as casual cruising around shoes on the honeymoon and after!

on 11/22/2005 Consider buying professional ballroom dancing shoes in white for the wedding. (You can even custom dye them to match.) They can get pricey, but they are almost guaranteed to be comfortable, especially for dancing.
Also, always try on the shoes you're going to wear for at least 2-3 hours at a time, to break them in, and to notice how they will feel when your feet are tired.
Finally, don't stress too much over shoes -- if the dress is long, nobody will notice.

on 11/22/2005 Don't wear open-toe shoes with a long dress. All the guests will see your toes poking out and it looks terrible!

on 11/22/2005 I picked out a beautiful pair of shoes for the ceremony, (not too expensive either), and I'm planning to get a pair of Keds, lace them with ribbon, and maybe put some rhinestones on for the reception. My shoes are really comfortable, and I've been breaking them in, but I just want to have a back up just in case. Plus, I think the Keds will be cute and different. Just make sure to design them to match your dress. Also- if you dress is hemmed for very high heels, it will be a pain with flat shoes, so make sure your ceremony shoes don't require a completely different hem lenght that the sneakers.
