Display fonts, or headline fonts, are where you get to have a little fun in designing your documents.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Macromedia Fontographer
  • Computer Fonts Software
  1. Step 1

Choose a font that reflects your personality or the personality of your design piece. Give it a little flair for a party invitation or go conservative for a business document.

  2. Step 2

Choose a font that contrasts well with the body text in your document. If your body text is a serif font (it has little feet), choose a sans serif font (no feet) for the headline. Or choose a font that's drastically different so it doesn't look like you're attempting to match the body font.

  3. Step 3

Choose a font size that's large enough to be readable. If you're using a very intricate or ornate design, it'll look better in a larger (greater than 36 points) size. If you're using a smaller font size, you may want to consider a milder design.

Tips & Warnings
  • Pick out some designs you like and look at the font choices the designer made. You can learn a lot by studying the designs of others.
  • Don't copy someone else's design - you can learn from it, but don't use it in your own work.
