How to Do a 180 Jump on In-Line Skates

Learn to skate backward on your in-line skates. Once you've mastered that, you already know the fundamental skills of the 180 jump. Now take it to the next level.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • In-line Skate Axles
  • In-line Skate Spacers
  • In-line Skate Wheels
  • In-line Skates
  • In-line Skating Gear
  • In-line Skating Helmets
  • In-line Skating Protective Gear Sets
  • Wrist Guards
Step1
Skate forward at a reasonable speed.
Step2
Bend your knees and crouch down, winding your torso opposite of the direction that you're going to spin in.
Step3
Jump up and unwind, spinning 180 degrees in the air.
Step4
Land rolling backward, bending your knees and staggering your skates slightly to aid your balance. Keep your weight directly over your skates.
Step5
Continue rolling backwards, but be sure to look back over your shoulder to see where you're going.
Step6
Repeat steps two and three to return to skating forward.

Tips & Warnings

  • Practice jumping 180s off a curb, then try higher jumps.
  • Combine your style jumps with your spin jumps for jumps like the 180 airwalk and the 180 method air.
  • Always wear knee pads and wrist guards when skating on in-line skates.

on 11/22/2005 If you want to do anything well, practice, practice, practice. It will also help if you wear a helmet. Make sure you stay in a place where you have few dangers like getting hit by a car or something like that.

on 11/22/2005 To go 360,540, etc. all you have to do is turn your head in the direction you want to spin and keep it turned. Your body will automatically follow. This also applies to flips.
