Instructions
-
-
1
Roll slowly forward on your skates.
-
2
Wind up your torso in the opposite direction you're going to turn when you jump.
-
-
3
Jump up just enough to release the weight from your skates.
-
4
Unwind your torso and turn quickly 180 degrees while the weight is off your skates. You'll end up facing the opposite direction but still rolling the same direction.
-
5
Look over your shoulder to see where you're skating.
-
6
Lightly carve side-to-side once you're comfortable with skating backward.
-
7
Put pressure on the outside skate as you carve to generate speed. This is similar to pushing off when you are skating forward, except that you don't lift a skate.
-
8
Jump up and spin 180 degrees to face forward again.

Tips & Warnings
Keep your weight centered over your skates at all times.
Relax and take your time. Once you're comfortable skating backward, you'll find it's almost as easy as skating forward.
Stagger your skates slightly, one ahead and one behind, for better balance.
In-line skating is an inherently dangerous activity that can result in serious injury or death. We recommend that you seek proper training and equipment before attempting this activity.
