Things You'll Need:
- Cashmere Shawl
- Hair Accessories
- Women's Casual Tops
- Women's Dress Coats
- Women's Dress Shirts
- Women's Dress Sweater
- Diamond Earrings
- Diamond Necklaces
-
Step 1
Concentrate on using clothes to direct attention away from your stomach and toward your upper body and legs. Accessorize your neckline or choose tops with patterns or embroidery above the breasts.
-
Step 2
Choose pants that have a narrow or tapered leg. Flat front, side and back zips will complement your figure, while pockets, pleats and tight pants will only draw attention to your mid section. Leggings and stirrup pants are great, provided they are not too tight.
-
Step 3
Select full skirts that do not gather at the waist. Straight or slim skirts will narrow the silhouette of your lower body, creating the illusion that your overall line is slimmer.
-
Step 4
Wear tunic-style tops and sweaters; they're flattering, yet spacious. Select square shape jackets, as they are roomy and cover the stomach.
-
Step 5
Look for generous sheath dresses that create a column line from your shoulders to your lower leg. This style gives the illusion that your shape is more linear.
-
Step 6
Avoid any clothing combination that defines your waist, including any belted or drawstring looks.

on 10/26/2009 I agree. Leggings would look awful on me as, although my hips and bottom are quite slender, my calfs are huge and I also have thick ankles, although my legs are not short. Tops should fit around the bust and fall loosly over the stomach-but be careful not to get the maternity look! A big baggy top will make YOU look big & baggy!Belts look bad on me-I don't think belts work if you are very top heavy (with a very large bust). It's very bad to have a one size fits all approach. What looks good depends on so many factors...

on 9/21/2008 These tips are not accurate. I am pregnant and not big enough to be "showing." The one thing I can count on to completely camouflage the look of a wide stomach is a wide belted top. It cinches me in, and looks va-va-voomy, not at all chunky.

on 6/17/2008 A new designer has created a line of shirts for men with large stomachs. They are cut fuller through the stomach & narrow enough through the shoulders to make the shoulders appear wider and the stomach smaller. About time somone adressed men's big beer guts! Check out stitchesofoz.com

on 2/13/2008 I'm sorry, but these tips are awful. No matter your size, you should ALWAYS accentuate your waist, as it creats an hour glass figure, even if you don't have one. The last thing you want to do is put on skinny pants, as you will look ridiculously top heavy- like an apple on toothpicks. These are vey old fashoined, dated tips, that will make you look frumpy, dowdy and HUGE!
