All is fair in fashion. If your hips are wider than you'd prefer, hide them.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Wear shoulder pads in tops, shirts, blouses and blazers. They give your upper body more width, thereby balancing the line between the top and bottom half of your body.

  2. Step 2

Select jackets, sweaters and tops that hang below the hips or skim the bottom of the buttocks. Look for side slits for added styling and ease of movement. Dress in A-line or full skirts. They camouflage the width of your hips.

  3. Step 3

Choose a loose-fitting sheath dress, as it creates a column of the body.

  4. Step 4

Pair a fitted top with a full skirt, or wear an empire waist dress for formal evening occasions.

  5. Step 5

Opt for flat-front pants. Avoid tight pants and leggings, as well as pants with pockets. These will all highlight what you'd prefer to minimize. Belted outfits will also accentuate your hips.

  6. Step 6

Draw attention to your upper body with brightly colored tops, decorative tops and accessorized necklines.

Tips & Warnings
  • Black leggings with an oversized tunic or blouse will work for your body type, as long as the top covers your hips and doesn't cling.
  • Wear a pareu or sarong over your favorite swimsuit. Draw your admirers' eyes to bold and beautiful prints.
