If you've got some coffee left over from breakfast, save it to make sweet, refreshing frappes later on. Yours just might be as good as that ubiquitous Seattle-based coffee chain's. Serves one.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Blenders
  • Large Glass
  • 1/3 c. whole milk
  • 1 c. cubed ice
  • 1 to 2 tsp. sugars
  • 2 tbsp. vanilla ice cream
  • 2/3 c. strong coffees

Step1
Prepare 2/3 c. strong coffee.
Step2
While the coffee is still warm, add 1 tsp. sugar and stir until sugar is dissolved.
Step3
Add 1/3 c. milk and stir.
Step4
Place 1/2 c. ice in blender and add sweetened coffee.
Step5
Turn the blender on and off quickly a few times to break up the ice.
Step6
Add 2 tbsp. vanilla ice cream. Turn blender on to Medium and blend.
Step7
After the coffee and ice have blended, add another 1/2 c. ice.
Step8
Blend until smooth. If you want a thicker frappe, add a little more ice.
Step9
Pour into large glass and serve immediately.

on 5/20/2008 YUM!. I'm gonna make this right away

Here is another interesting piece of news. I just heard that Gevalia coffee company has a promotion now and is giving away 3 boxes of their coffee along with a coffee mug for just $3. Sounds like an interesting offer. Read about it at the site below.

on 1/1/2007 You can also try different flavoured ice-creams :] In my experience the more ice the better, otherwise it's just a coffee flavoured shake rather then a frappe.. Anywho, loved the article!..

on 10/23/2006 The Greek frappé, which gets its creamy foam from the coffee rather than ice cream, pectin, or thickeners, is the outstanding style. The recipe posted on 8/8/2006 is basic and authentic. I know: I co-wrote a book about it, "Frappé Nation." You can learn more about the book and the Greek-style frappé, which was invented in 1957, at www.frappenation.com.

on 8/8/2006 You need two teaspoons of Nescafe Classic (instant coffee), and either 1, 2 or 3 teaspoons of sugar (depending whether you want your coffee sweet or not). Add just a little bit of water, just enough to cover the coffee and sugar. Use a milkshake machine to blend contents or a hand style mixing machine. Once froth is ready, add water to about 3/4 of glass and then add milk and ice.

Always server Frappé with a glass of water.
