Step 1
Remove the sail cover.

Step 2
Release the halyard from its cleat.

Step 3
Attach the halyard to the headboard.

Step 4
Secure the headboard end of the halyard by leading it down from the headboard to a winch or cleat on or near the mast. This will ensure it doesn't wrap around the mast or shrouds.

Step 5
Pull the slack out of the other end of the halyard and tie it off to a cleat. The sail is now ready to be raised.
