How to Turn Off the Empty Trash Warning on a Mac

When you empty the Trash, are you annoyed by the warning that pops up every time? Here's how to disable it.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Hard Disk Toolkit (FWB Software)
  1. Step 1

    Select the Trash icon.

  2. Step 2

    Click on the File menu and choose Get Info (or press Command + I).

  3. Step 3

    Uncheck the box that reads "Warn before emptying."

Tips & Warnings
  • You can turn off this warning temporarily by pressing Option while selecting Empty Trash from the Special menu. This also trashes locked files.
  • If you accidentally erase something you didn't mean to, use a disk utility that includes an "Unerase" feature, such as Norton Utilities for the Macintosh or Hard Disk ToolKit.
