No fire without a spark, no spark without a flint. What to do?

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    Flip open the lighter's top.

  2. Step 2

Grasp the flint wheel (the area where the flame appears) with two fingers.

  3. Step 3

Hold the narrow sides of the case with your other hand.

  4. Step 4

Slide the inner case out of the outside case.

  5. Step 5

Remove the screw on the bottom of the inner case.

  6. Step 6

    Pull out the flint spring.

  7. Step 7

Take the old flint out of the spring tip and insert the new flint.

  8. Step 8

Replace the spring in the flint tube.

  9. Step 9

Turn the screw as far as it will go or you won't be able to close the lid.

  10. Step 10

Tighten the screw, but not too much. You don't want to have to wrench on it the next time a flint needs to be changed.

  11. Step 11

Put the inside case back into the outside case.

  12. Step 12

Make sure the small trigger on the top faces toward the hinge in the bottom.

  13. Step 13

    Flip the lighter closed.

Tips & Warnings
  • If the flint wheel sticks, roll it backward a couple of times and try lighting it again.
