How to Treat Jock Itch
Jock itch is caused by a fungus called Tinea cruris that infects the groin, the inner thighs and sometimes even the buttocks. Treat jock itch and then be meticulous in trying to prevent its return.

Apply an over-the-counter antifungal cream three times a day, or as directed in the product instructions, to get rid of the fungus. Treatment must continue for three to four weeks or the fungus will reappear.

For a severe or persistent infection, see your doctor and discuss the possibility of topical and/or oral anti-fungal medication.

Apply an antifungal powder containing miconazole when chafing aggravates jock itch.

Wear a jock strap, or athletic supporter, to keep your genitals away from the rest of your skin.

Keep groin area clean and dry.

Wear cotton underwear.

Wear loose-fitting clothes and underwear - boxers are best.

Remove wet bathing suits as soon as you are done swimming.

Sleep naked to let the infected area air out.

Tips & Warnings
Your symptoms should improve within 7 to 10 days of using your antifungal creams. If your condition persists or spreads, see your doctor.
