How to Create a Coupon Book for Your Child

Give your kids a tangible reminder that no matter how busy you are, you always have time for them.

Things You’ll Need:

• Calligraphy Inks
• Printers
• Calligraphy Pens
• Colored Crayons
• 2 Sheets Card Stock
• Pencils
• Colored Paper
• Colored Pencils
• Colored Pens
• Computers
• Rulers

1. Make a list of things you know your child will enjoy or need. Include things like "order a pizza for dinner," "let you get out of trouble free," "let you stay up an hour late," "take you to the movies" and so on.
2. Type them all into a word processing program, in 14-point type, with the introduction, "Present this coupon and I will..." Leave six blank lines between each "coupon" so that you end up with four to a page.
3. When you're done entering your text, select it and arrange the document in two columns, with the text lining up evenly in both columns, so that you end up with eight coupons per page. Center all the text.
4. Type "COUPON BOOK" in bold 24-point type on a separate page. This will be the cover of the book.
5. Print your coupons using the highest print quality.
6. Draw crop marks evenly between each section of text using a ruler.
7. Take the pages to a copy shop and have them copied onto bright-colored paper. Have the cover text printed on a heavier stock, and then have all the pages cropped along the crop marks and spiral-bound into a little booklet.
8. Decorate the cover and the coupons themselves with stickers that your child will enjoy.

Tips & Warnings

• If you want to make a coupon book for your teen-ager, include things like "give you a driving lesson," "let you borrow the car Friday night," "extend your curfew by an hour," "forward you $10 on your allowance" and so on.
