How to Use Internet Explorer With America Online

Even though AOL uses Internet Explorer as its browser, you can open your Explorer browser separately and run them both at the same time.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet Access
  • Computers
  • America Online
  • Internet Explorer
  • Internet Explorer
  1. Step 1

    Sign on to AOL.

  2. Step 2

    Minimize the screen by clicking on the minus sign in the top right corner of the window.

  3. Step 3

    Launch your Explorer browser from the desktop or programs menu.

  4. Step 4

    Alternate between AOL and Explorer by minimizing and maximizing the two windows.

Tips & Warnings
  • You must first sign on to AOL to be able to launch your Explorer browser.
  • You need to stay connected to AOL to be able to browse with the separate Explorer browser.
  • To close Explorer, just click the X in the top right corner of the Explorer screen.
