Bricks can be set vertically, horizontally or at an angle to make an elegant border for a walkway or bed.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Dig a trench around the bed. It should be deep and wide enough to accommodate whatever brick configuration you've chosen. For example, if you're going to stand the bricks vertically with the wide side facing out, the trench should be about 4 inches wide and 4 inches deep. If you're going to stand the bricks vertically with the narrow side facing out, the trench will need to be 4 inches deep and about 5 inches wide.

  2. Step 2

Wear gloves and scoop out the trench and pat down the bottom until it's firm and even.

  3. Step 3

Place the bricks in the trench with one hand. Use your other hand to pack dirt around the bricks. If you're placing the bricks at an angle, however, use one hand to place the bricks and the other hand to support them.

  4. Step 4

Pack dirt firmly around your new brick wall.
