Thanksgiving guests inevitably will visit the powder room, so add a little holiday ambience there. Here are some ideas to get you started.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 1 Or 2 Pilgrim Figurines
  • 2 Or More Gourds
  • Autumn Wreaths
  • Fabric Fallen Leaves
  • Potpourri
  • Scented Candles
  • Votive Candleholders
  • 2 Or More Guest Soaps
  • 1 or 2 fingertip towels

Step1
Put a small container of seasonal potpourri (cinnamon, citrus, pumpkin pie spice, cloves) on the toilet tank flanked by pilgrim figurines, mini-scarecrows or a nest of autumn leaves.
Step2
Change guest soaps to seasonal colors such as burnt orange, gold, brown or ivory.
Step3
Offer your guests finger towels in seasonal colors. Layer the towels over larger ones in compatible colors.
Step4
Burn a candle scented appropriately to the season - and compatible with your potpourri. A corner behind the sink is a good location for this candle.
Step5
Hang a small Thanksgiving wreath on the back or front of the powder room door at about 5 feet off the floor.
Step6
Tape pretty autumn leaves to a corner of the mirror to suggest they are in the process of falling or blowing.
Step7
Set up a vignette on the bathroom windowsill; it could include small gourds, autumn leaves and miniature pumpkins.

Tips & Warnings

  • Votive candles are usually the best for decorating because of the vast selection in holders.
  • Fabric autumn leaves are less likely to curl and are reusable.
