The electric Bass is the anchor of any rock or Jazz group.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Tune the strings to E, A, D, and G by matching the sound of the tightened string to these pitches on a piano or a pitch pipe.

  2. Step 2

Put your head and right arm through the support strap which rests on the right shoulder.

  3. Step 3

Use your right 1st finger or a "pick" to pluck each of the four strings at the base of the fingerboard directly above the "pick-ups".

  4. Step 4

Pick each string 4 times while naming it without looking at your right hand.

  5. Step 5

Mix the sequence of picking the strings so accuracy and comfort is maintained.

  6. Step 6

Place the left thumb on the underside of the neck where the 2nd fret is located.

Tips & Warnings
  • Large hands are needed to play the bass. Young beginners often purchase 3/4 size electric bass instruments.
  • Subscribe to a magazine titled..."Bass Player". They also have a site online.
