Step 1
Clean the bathroom thoroughly and make sure that any personal care items ' shampoo, soap, toothbrush, hairspray ' are put away. These items can be put back in place after your party is over.
-
Step 2
Remove any potentially embarrassing items from the bathroom's medicine cabinet. Some guests will always look! Store these items out of sight, as well.
-
Step 3
Provide your guests with clean hand towels placed as close to the bathroom sink as possible. To this end, consider purchasing a small towel stand for your bathroom's countertop.
-
Step 4
Provide your guests with scented soap, hand lotion and tissue. Make sure the soap dish is clean and free of any residue from prior use. Put the hand lotion and tissue box in decorative dispensers.
-
Step 5
Add a festive touch to any empty corner or space with fresh or silk flower arrangements and scented votive and pillar candles.
-
Step 6
Decorate your bathtub as well. Remove your shower curtain and fill the bathtub half-full with water. Place aromatherapy floating candles in the tub. Place as many scented votive and pillar candles on the tub's ledge as will fit. (Avoid candles if children will be present.)
-
Step 7
Place a small cassette or CD player in a concealed spot in the bathroom. Play soft music set at a low volume. Your guests may appreciate a break from any loud music or noise.
-
Step 8
Check the state of the bathroom frequently. Clean the bathroom's countertops if necessary and replace toilet tissue as needed.

on 8/8/2006 Providing a box of matches on top of the toilet in a small bowl is great party bathroom etiquette. I collect matchboxes (the old fashioned, square kind) from restaurants and hotels for added cosmopolitan touch. Matches eliminate potentially embarrassing odors faster than burning candles (because of the sulfur). A must have for smaller apartments where the bathroom air necessarily bleeds into the rest of the living space, potentially ruining the party for everyone.

on 11/22/2005 Place a container of antibacterial baby wipes near the sink or toilet for guests to wipe the seat off before (or after) using to keep the germs away.

on 11/22/2005 Have the plunger easily found in the cabinet under the sink. Anyone who is in a predicament will look there before he hollers for the hostess through a crack in the door!

on 11/22/2005 It will save your guests any embarrassment they'd otherwise suffer by having to ask you if you have a plunger handy. Put the plunger right by the toilet in obvious sight. You might even buy a new one and decorate it for the occasion! Chances are it won't be put to use, but you never know!

on 11/22/2005 Many bathtubs are coated with flammable sealants. It's not a good idea to light floating candles in a bathtub!
