Step 1
Stick with the shoe that works. There is no one type that works for everyone, but when you find yours, stay with it.
-
Step 2
Try on shoes with the socks you wear while running. A training shoe should be long enough to fit a thumb-width at the toe end while wearing socks.
-
Step 3
Shop later in the day. Feet tend to be larger then.
-
Step 4
Buy women's models if you're a woman. Women's shoes are made lighter and narrower than men's. But if you're a woman with a wider or larger foot, don't hesitate to wear men's shoes.
-
Step 5
Buy two pairs of shoes if you run often so one pair is always dry and clean. However, it's not a good idea to buy two pairs of a new model at once.
-
Step 6
Buy a separate pair of racing shoes, which are lighter, if you wish. But today's lightweight trainers serve both purposes.
