Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Life Vests
  • Wet Suits
  • Windsurf Boards
  • Windsurf Rigs
  1. Step 1

Master the slam jibe and chop hop manuevers before attempting an aerial jibe.

  2. Step 2

Windsurf a broad reach and remove your rear foot from the footstrap.

  3. Step 3

Hit the chop you are hopping off and use only your front foot to lift your board up. Maintain only slight pressure on the tail with your back foot.

  4. Step 4

Push the tail of the board out and away from you by switching your footing on the board and pushing down on the outside and upper rail.

  5. Step 5

Pull back on the boom with your back hand to aid your aerial lift and turn.

  6. Step 6

Land the board in the water nose first with your feet now set for your new tack. Your sail should be clew forward and your back will likely be in the water.

  7. Step 7

Keep the clew toward the nose and pull back to power up and regain.

  8. Step 8

Sheet in and sail away on your new heading.

  • Keep a wide, firm grip on the the boom throughout the trick.
  • Learn a good clew-first water start to aid in the recovery from this trick, since you'll likely end up in the starting position for a clew-first water start.
  • Keep your feet out of the straps throughout this trick.
  • Always wear a life vest when windsurfing.
  • The risk of injury and equipment damage is directly proportional to the amount of air you get. Start low and work your way up.
  • Windsurfing is an inherently dangerous activity that can result in serious injury or death. We recommend that you seek proper training and equipment before attempting this activity.
