Rate: (2 Ratings)

An energetic social activity, mixed doubles allows friends and/or couples a chance to play racquetball together.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Racquetball Goggles
  • Racquetball Rackets
  • Racquetballs
  • Water Bottles With Squeeze Caps
Step1
Choose a partner of similar or equal playing ability if possible. This will make playing more enjoyable.
Step2
Have a strategy before entering the court.
Step3
Split the court down the middle with each player taking a side. If you're both right-handed, the player with the strongest backhand will want to take the left side of the court. If one person on the team is left-handed, allow that person to take the left side of the court.
Step4
Decide on a service rotation before the match begins.
Step5
Stick to the service rotation throughout the game.
Step6
Make sure you and your partner are inside the service box when serving. When not serving, the teammate stands with his back against the wall until the ball clears the back service line.
Step7
Be aware of your position in relation to everybody else on the court.
Step8
Shorten your backswing and follow through to avoid hitting people with your racquet when necessary.
Step9
Keep score the same as in singles. Matches are decided by a best of three games format. The first two games are played to 15 points and the third game is played to 11 points.
Step10
Keep cool. Remember that racquetball is just a game and you're having fun with a friend as well as getting a workout.

Tips & Warnings

  • Playing doubles requires a team philosophy. Have a strategy before you begin a match.
  • You don't have to take turns hitting the ball with your partner during a rally.
  • Call hindrance as needed because there are extra people on the court.
