If you have to dive, it's because you're out of position. Though appealing, diving should only be done occasionally.

Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging

Things You’ll Need:

  • Racquetball Goggles
  • Racquetball Rackets
  • Racquetballs
  • Water Bottles With Squeeze Caps

Step1
Start your dive from a crouched position.
Step2
Bend your knees and drop your rear toward the floor.
Step3
Lead with your racquet hand extended straight out.
Step4
Keep your non-hitting hand close to the ground to use as a brace.
Step5
Flick the racquet with your wrist to hit the ball. Either a forehand or backhand shot works fine when you're diving for the ball.
Step6
Bend your non-hitting wrist back to absorb the fall.
Step7
Arch your back.
Step8
Land on your stomach and non-hitting hand.
Step9
Slide on your stomach a few feet.
Step10
Jump to your feet immediately so you're ready for the next shot.

Tips & Warnings

  • Hit a lob or ceiling shot to give yourself more time to get back on your feet.
  • Start your dive low and stay low. Jump out, not up.
  • Pick your diving opportunities carefully. If you're winning or losing by 10 points, diving is not advisable.
  • Avoid diving with great frequency. You'll end up wearing your body down quickly.
  • This is a technique for advanced and expert players only.
  • If you have any condition which would impair or limit your ability to engage in physical activity, please consult a physician before attempting this activity. This information is not intended as a substitute for professional medical advice or treatment.
