How to Automatically Record to Ustream

The Ustream web application allows you to automatically record your webcam broadcasts without the need to install additional recording software. Ustream is a website which lets its users create their own webcam broadcasts simply by connecting a webcam to a computer and using the Ustream web applet. In addition to broadcasting content, Ustream also allows users to record their own webcam broadcasts from within the same applet. Users can then download a movie file which contains the recording.

Instructions

      Visit the Ustream homepage (see Resources) and click on the "Login" button to log in to the service. Type your Ustream username and password and click on "Login." Then click on "Go Live!" to access the Ustream broadcasting applet.

      Click on "Start broadcast" to start your broadcast.

      Click on "Start record" to automatically generate a recording of your video feed.

      Click on "Stop record" when you are done broadcasting. Fill in the form with details about your recording and click on "Download" to download the file to your hard drive.

Tips & Warnings

  • Ustream only lets its users record a maximum of three hours of footage at a time. After three hours, the program will automatically ask you to save and download the video file before allowing you to start a new recording.
