How to Put a Strikethrough on AIM

AIM, which stands for AOL Instant Messenger, is an online messaging tool that allows you to engage in quick text-based chats with friends on your buddy list. In the past, older versions of the AIM software would allow you to set your font to use the strikethrough formatting, which puts a line straight through the center of your text. Unfortunately, the newest versions of AIM have removed this. If you're lucky enough to be using one of those older AIM versions, you can learn how to use strikethrough with your font.

Instructions

    • 1

      Start the AIM application.

    • 2

Double-click on a buddy in your buddy list to open a chat window.

    • 3

Right-click inside the text box, then click "Font."

    • 4

Check the box next to "Strikethrough" in the "Effects" section, then click the "OK" button. Your font will now have strikethrough formatting applied to it.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you're looking for an older version of AIM with this ability, you can download one from OldVersion.com.
