How to Base an Outfit Off of Colorful Rain Boots

Rain boots aren't just for rainy days anymore.

It used to be that if it was raining, then you wore yellow rain boots, and as a result, your outfit was ruined. However, things have changed in the world of fashion. Not only can you wear rain boots when it's not raining out, but you can wear bright ones in different patterns and colors, and look good doing so. All it takes is a little attention to some basic style principles and before you know it, you'll be able to create outfits based off your rain boots.

1. Examine your color and patterns. Since you're basing your entire outfit off of your colorful rain boots, you need to examine your color and pattern so you know what type of clothes and accessories to pair with it. Brightly colored boots in neon colors will look best with muted or lightly patterned tones, while bright boots with patterns will look best with simpler clothes.

2. Choose the right jeans. If you're wearing jeans with your boots, choose a pair of skinny jeans or straight legged jeans that will easily tuck inside the boot without being uncomfortable due to excess fabric.

3. Avoid certain items. Don't pair your rain boots with anything -- jeans, shorts, skirts or dresses -- that is too formal. Rain boots are naturally casual chic, so don't overdress them.

4. Be casual. Choose casual, fitted clothes, such as denim cutoffs, a mini skirt, leggings, tights, or any other bottom that will accentuate your leg shape. Or wear your boots with a breezy sun dress, tunic, or T-shirt dress. This will create a profile that will only be heightened when paired with the rain boots.

5. Accessorize. Finish off your outfit with some accessories that will accentuate your rain boot look. If the weather calls for it, throw on a chic trench coat over your outfit. Pair your boots with a brightly colored bag in matching or in similar colors of your boots. Put on a pair of bright bangle bracelets or brightly colored earrings that complement your boots.
